Challenge:

Saudi women working in media often navigate a space shaped by tradition, rapid technological change, and evolving public expectations. Yet, their voices and contributions are frequently underrepresented in mainstream narratives and visual culture. The challenge was to design an experience that captures their nuanced stories, honors their roles, and communicates the shifting landscape of Saudi media—while staying rooted in cultural authenticity and emotional resonance.
Solution:

The Majlis project follows a non-linear UX design process grounded in cultural research. Through immersive and iterative stages—Research, Synthesis, and Design Response—I explored how Saudi women experience and shape media narratives.
The final design is an immersive exhibition blending experimental video, virtual cultural probes, ambient soundscapes, and illustration. This contemporary take on the traditional Majlis becomes a space for storytelling, dialogue, and collective memory. The experience is both personal and public, paying homage to the past while imagining new media futures for Saudi women.
